Reviews - Friends that became Family...

"The team of Friends Accommodation Services is responsible for most of the wonderful memories I have from my six months in South Africa. It is the place where you feel at home even if you are thousands kilometers away from home, the place where you meet amazing people willing to discover the country with you, and the place that you miss when you are back home..

- Louise Veron (French, UNHCR Intern)

I stayed October, November and a little bit in December at Friends Accommodation Services. I had one of the best times in my life at Friends Accommodation Services, in Pretoria. The unique and off the beaten path trips and activities planned by the owners, such as a Bobotie cooking class, a well prepared fancy African dinner, or a whole adventure weekend with skydiving, rafting, local food at local places and a nice accommodation helps you to make friends very quick and soon you are like a big family - as their slogan promises. In the lovely decorated and furnished rooms you feel home immediately and the common areas provide a perfect and cosy place to hang out with the other people, jump in the pool, play a game or watch a movie together. Now at home I really miss that place.

Friends Accommodation Services in Brooklyn is certainly a home away from home. Having stayed at Friends time and time again it is always a great pleasure to return here when visiting Pretoria. The accommodative owners and friendly staff make it so coupled with the interesting guests one gets to meet. The trips to the markets on a Saturday morning with other guests are great for social meet ups with friends in the area as well as an opportunity to sample new eatery stalls popping up in the city such as eat-mail at the market on main. Having worked as a social manager at Friends Accommodation Services has given me the opportunity to see the business grow, get to meet numerous local and foreign guests from various parts of the world which has been a great way to discover and learn about different cultures as well as get to share one another’s perspectives on social and political issues of interest. Numerous trips to various areas of interest in Gauteng, Kwa-Zulu Natal and the Western Cape have made for some lifetime memories being built as well as some good friendships. Activities such as the group skydive as well as horse riding on the weekends have also made up for some enjoyable weekend time well spent with friends of friends. In essence I have come to see and believe that Friends Accommodation Services is indeed a place where guests become friends and friends become family.                                                                                              - Mzingaye Dube - South African - it's all connected

Thank you so much for your warm and super friendly hospitality at Friends Accommodation Services. It was my first time visiting South Africa, the incredibly beautiful country with really nice people. Living at Friends Accommodation Services for two months brought me and my sister many good friends and that family atmosphere made me feel I was home. So missing those unforgettable two months and that great experience living at Friends Accommodation Services among so nice people.

I would highly recommend staying at Friends Accommodation to anyone traveling to the Brooklyn/Hatfield area. The hosts of this establishment were excellent and the neighborhood was not only quiet but also under 24 hour surveillance by security staff (an amenity not mentioned in the listing, but great to have.) The atmosphere provided by the owners along with their social manager was second to none. Immediately upon my arrival I was taken to an outdoor music festival and introduced to several of the other tenants, all of which I grew very fond of over my month there. I made some of the best friends I could have ever asked for from all over the world and always had something fun to do with the group when I had free time. As a working professional, I was concerned about the security of my belongings and whether or not I would have adequate access to wireless internet, I was not disappointed. As I mentioned before, the security of the accommodation was more than up to par and the internet speed far exceeded my expectations. All in all this was a great experience for me and I would highly recommend this to anyone traveling to the area, regardless of the duration of your stay. Their motto: "Friends Accommodation Services: Where guests become friends, and friends become family" could not have been more true. Thank you Tertius, Lira, and Andre for an unforgettable experience, I hope to see you all again!                                                                                                          - Matthew  Coale
